SEBP Councils
The Southeast Business Partnership's councils are working to enhance the economic vitality and sustainability of the South Metro Denver region by focusing on key issues. SEBP also works closely with the Douglas County Business Alliance to make sure that we are always promoting pro-business public policy in the political arena and in our shared communities. Economic Development/Transportation Council
Mission:
Enhance the economic vitality of South Metro Denver by maintaining a comprehensive economic development agenda that supports business expansion and retention, job creation and improved mobility, accessibility and air quality. Collaborate to ensure that suitable infrastructure improvements and business-friendly policies contribute to a healthy regional economy.
Policy Objectives:
- Business Attraction/Expansion: actively encourage businesses to relocate to the South Metro Denver region by assisting prospects with site selection, space requirements, labor and demographic information, and available incentives
- Business Retention: ensure a sound business environment in the region through proactive involvement in transportation, infrastructure, workforce housing, quality of life, and tax issues that are of significant importance to area businesses
- Southeast I-25 Urban Corridor/TMA: ensure consensus on transportation issues in the South I-25 Urban corridor that supports completion of the I-25 multi-modal project, transit oriented development, access solutions to/from light rail stations and other transportation related projects
- C-470 Taskforce II: address the access and capacity issues for C-470 in cooperation with members of the C-470 Taskforce II
- Workforce Development: unify the resources of education, industry and government; accurately present the education level and skill base of the workforce available to employers; match the hiring needs of the local businesses with the skilled human resources of the area; maximize the use of all education/training resources
Public Policy Council
Mission:
To engage in focused advocacy on public policy issues with broad Southeast Business Partnership membership consensus; to provide a forum for candid debate among the public and private sectors of South Metro Denver; and to serve as a limited clearinghouse for critical bill and policy language in our state legislature and local communities.
Policy Focus:
- Business-Friendly Public Policy: ensure that local, state and federal governments enact business-friendly public policy without compromising key quality of life issues
- Transportation: ensure funding for significant infrastructure projects and encourage the expansion of multi-modal opportunities as well as the protection of existing opportunities
- Housing: protect, promote, and create diverse housing opportunities serving individuals/families making $10-$20 per hour
- Education and Research: support K-12, community colleges, and higher education system; support efforts to improve Colorado's community college and university system; and support strong research and development policy
- Healthcare: seek to find a balance between protection of individual rights and the heavy cost of malpractice insurance - strong healthcare policy will have reforms that protect both small and large business from the rising costs of prescription drugs, basic care, and insurance
- Water: support the development of new and existing water resources as well as the creation of long-term solutions to avoid future water shortage situations
- Energy: pursue efforts that ensure reliable utilities while keeping costs in check to both provider and consumer; support public policy that does not inhibit the creation of substations, power plants and/or the siting of transmission lines

Public Policy: Mary Bowers
The Public Policy team, which focuses on legislation important to the South Metro Denver corporate and residential communities, is integral to the success of SEBP and the South Metro business community. It’s a great way to stay on top of SEBP’s work at the Capitol and its ongoing efforts to craft more business-friendly policy.
Economic Development: Lynn Myers
This forum is dedicated to improving the business climate in South Metro Denver and making our corporate culture as hospitable as possible to companies thinking of relocating to Colorado. SEBP’s catchment area is constantly expanding and we are always exploring new ways to grow our corporate base and attract jobs and families.
Real Estate: Meets 2nd Monday monthly, 7:30am
The goal of the SEBP Real Estate committee is to work with local brokerage organizations and developers to focus on business retention and relocation, making the South Metro Area the preferred place to live and work in Colorado. SEBP is also the best source for information on incentives and is always working with our investors and partners to make our community as attractive as possible to employers and families.
